What is coal tar pitch?

Coal tar pitch, a type of artificial asphalt, is generally a viscous liquid, semi-solid, or solid substance. It is black and glossy in appearance. Coal tar pitch is the residue left after the distillation processing of coal tar to remove liquid fractions, accounting for approximately 50% to 60% of the total coal tar volume. It is a bulk product, and its current national standard in China is GB/T 2290-2012.
